Biography

Dr. Kenan Subaşı is a Lecturer at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. He graduated from the Department of Radio, Cinema and Television at Erciyes University, Faculty of Communication, and won awards at the internationally organized Young Communicators Competition for three consecutive years during his undergraduate studies. He completed his master’s degree in the Department of Cinema and Television at Beykent University in 2017, and successfully defended his PhD dissertation titled “The Transforming Identity of Cinema through New Technologies: Virtual Reality and 360-Degree Video” in 2025 at the Department of Radio, Cinema and Television at Ege University.

Between 2012 and 2020, he worked as a motion graphics designer at Kanal D, one of Turkey’s leading television networks, where he took part in numerous national and international television programs, series, and film projects. During his undergraduate education, he participated in various short film and documentary projects. His short film 14.15, which he directed during his master’s studies, was selected for more than fifty film festivals across over twenty countries.

His academic research focuses on new media, digital cinema, three-dimensional design, animation, virtual reality, VR film, 360-degree video, as well as new technologies and emerging narratives and formats. In digital production processes, he uses software such as After Effects, Cinema 4D, Octane, and Redshift Render; in real-time virtual reality and virtual production projects, he works with current tools such as Unreal Engine. He integrates AI-supported audiovisual production tools into his design processes. Within the scope of technical courses, he teaches design, 3D modeling and animation, advanced editing techniques, computer-aided design, and motion graphics design, in addition to conducting theoretical courses and applied workshops. Alongside his academic work, he serves as a workshop facilitator, speaker, and jury member at film festivals, and continues his professional practice as a director and designer in national and international projects.
