Biography

Dr. Kenan Subaşı, who serves as a lecturer at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, graduated from the Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Cinema, and Television at Erciyes University. During his undergraduate studies, he won the international Young Communicators Competition for three consecutive years.

Subaşı completed his master's degree at Beykent University, Department of Cinema and Television, in 2017. He later completed his PhD at Ege University, Department of Radio, Cinema, and Television, in 2025 with his dissertation titled “Transforming Identity of Cinema with New Technologies: Virtual Reality and 360-Degree Video.”

Between 2012 and 2020, he worked as a motion graphic designer on numerous national and international projects at Kanal D, one of Turkey’s largest television channels. During his undergraduate years, he participated in several short film and documentary projects. His short film 14.15, directed during his master’s studies, was selected for more than fifty film festivals across over twenty countries.

Subaşı’s academic research primarily focuses on New Media, Digital Cinema, Virtual Reality and Cinema, VR Film, 360-Degree Video, Design, Animation, New Technologies, New Formats, and New Narratives. In addition to teaching technical courses and workshops such as Design, 3D Modeling and Animation, Advanced Editing Techniques, Computer-Aided Design, and Motion Graphic Design, he also offers theoretical courses. Alongside his academic career, he continues to work as a designer on various national and international projects.
