Asst. Prof. EYÜP CÜCÜK

Eyüp Cücük is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophical, Social, and Historical Foundations of Education at the Hasan Âli Yücel Faculty of Education, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (IÜC). As a historian of education and social scientist, his primary research focuses on educational policies during the Late Ottoman and Early Republican periods, modernization movements in education, and higher education culture.

Embracing an innovative and interdisciplinary research vision, Dr. Cücük utilizes qualitative research designs such as grounded theory, Foucauldian discourse analysis, ethnography, and the Critical Incident Technique (CIT). He conducts his scientific research from a digital humanities perspective, actively integrating qualitative data analysis software and AI-driven research tools—including NVivo, MAXQDA, scite, Consensus, and NotebookLM—into his research cycle.

He completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of History at Hacettepe University. Continuing his academic journey at Gaziantep University, he earned dual master's degrees in History and Educational Programs & Teaching, and completed his PhD in Early Modern and Modern History in 2020. Between 2021 and 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa under the TÜBİTAK National Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program. To date, he has served as a principal investigator, researcher, and consultant in numerous national and international scientific research projects.

Continuing his administrative and editorial contributions to the academic ecosystem, Dr. Cücük serves as the Vice President of the Education History Association (ETAD). Furthermore, he contributes to the management of editorial processes by serving as an editor, associate editor, and editorial board member for the Sinop University Journal of Social Sciences, Turkish History of Education Research (TURKHER), TUHED, and TARIHYAZIMI journals.
