KLİVET 2019 ULUSLARARASI 7. BAHAR SEMPOZYUMU, Antalya, Türkiye, 11 - 14 Nisan 2019, ss.373-375, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
The incidence of Coronavirus, which causes infectious peritonitis and multisystemic disorders in cats, has increased in recent years. The disease, which has no definitive treatment, decreases the quality of life of the animal and leads to dead in a short time. In this study, a case of perirenal pseudocyst who was observed in five cats with coronavirus positive brought to Istanbul University- Cerrahpaşa Veterinary Faculty Training and Research Hospital, polyclinic of Internal Medicine with complaints of fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, sand eating, wall licking and incoordination. All of patients were stray cat and 5-7 month age-old. Abdominal effusion was detected in all patients (3 females, 2 males). In the blood examination, in addition to anemia and leukocytosis, albumin / globulin ratio was found to be between 0.1-0.3 and all were positive for cat Coronavirus (FCoV). In serum biochemistry, only in one case the levels of BUN was found above the reference range. In the neurological examination of the patients who had shaky walking, it was determinated a delay in proprioception in the hind legs, an increase in patellar reflex and flexor withdrawal reflex. Radiographic imaging revealed that the kidneys were bilaterally enlarged in each patient. Ultrasonographic examination showed the presence of perirenal pseudocyst in both of kidneys in four patients. Perirenal effusive rim was determined in the other cat. Although three of the cats have lost their lives, the medical treatment of the other two is still ongoing. With this study, it is pointed out that it is useful to keep in mind the changes that may occur related to kidneys such as perirenal pseudocyst, while organising the treatment protocols of FeCov (+) cats under the age of 1 with neurological findings and/or thoracic/abdominal effusion.
