Abstract

In this paper, Markov Random Field (MRF) is introduced and applied to separation problem of magnetic anomalies obtained in archaeological regions. MRF is an unsupervised statistical model-based algorithm which does not require a priori information.  We present a dynamic programming based on evaluation of noisy and super positioned effects of the various geological structures considering a statistical maximum a posteriori (MAP) criterion.  The objective of the proposed modeling is to capture the intrinsic character of the input potential anomaly map in a few parameter so as to understand the nature of the phenomenon generating the anomaly. Here  magnetic field of the input data is considered as 2-Dimensional image with a matrix composed of N1 xN2  pixels.  We evaluate each pixel of N1 xN2 matrix using MRF approach, regarding the neighboring pixels and locality of their connections in real time with no priori processing. As synthetic examples, prism structures are considered and separation performance of MRF is tested.  As a real data, we have evaluated magnetic anomaly map of Hittite civilization in Sivas-Altınyayla region of Turkey.
