Abstract

F-waves are electromyography signals which are recorded by using surface electrodes and contain information about the progression of disease. Motor unit number estimation can be done with the calculated parameters from F-waves. Rapid detection and analysis of F-waves via an algorithm provide speed and simplicity to clinicians. In this study, an algorithm was developed to detect F-waves automatically by using a data pool which include normal individuals, ALS and polio patients. Fwaves were detected correctly with 96.55% accuracy for in total 174 recordings. As a result of the analysis, number of repeater neuron parameter can differentiate normal individuals from ALS patients.
