Moment Tensor and Stress Inversions of Western Marmara Sea Micro-Earthquakes

Abstract
In regions where only micro and small earthquakes occur, moment tensor inversions (MTI) of these earthquakes are essential for determining the region's faulting characteristics. However, obtaining the records with a high signal-to-noise ratio of micro and small magnitudes earthquakes is challenging. Short-period earthquake records of the MONGAN seismic networks, established on the Ganos Fault, have a very high signal-to-noise ratio for MTI. Main characteristics of earthquakes recorded by MONGAN seismic networks are that the epicenters of those earthquakes are located outside the network and at have close distance. Within the scope of MONGAN network analysis, the effect of azimuthal gap on MTI of micro-small earthquakes at close epicenter distance is investigated. To this end, focal mechanism parameters obtained by different methods using the national network and MONGAN records are compared. Consequently, consistent solutions were obtained despite minor differences in the focal mechanisms' strike, dip and rake angles. Despite the azimuthal gap, all MTI solutions agree with the VR>0.40, CN<10, STVAR<0.30, and FMVAR<30 conditions required for a reliable result
