Anxiety symptoms are commonly comorbid with chronic physical diseases. Anxiety disorders harden assessment and treatment of the patients with chronic diseases. Thus prompt diagnosis and treatment of anxiety related to a general medical condition has a great importance. The tendency of the patients and the doctors to assume that anxiety is the natural and the expected result of a medical disease, discard the truth that anxiety can be a treatable disorder. The aim of this article is to review the current literature about anxiety disorder due to a general medical condition. For this purpose, articles about anxiety related to asthma, myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus and burn injury which are the disorders commonly associated with anxiety are reviewed and summarized.
