Background: Nurses have important roles in disasters. It is important to evaluate the disaster response self-efficacy of nursing students. Objectives: This research was conducted to evaluate the self-efficacy of nursing undergraduate students in disaster response. Methods: The population of this descriptive study consists of 3rd and 4th year nursing students studying in two nursing faculties (N=972). The sample of the study included 387 students who agreed to participate in the study. Personal information form and Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale were used to collect data. Results: In our study, the total score average of the Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale was found to be 3.23 ± 0.79. The scale scores of the students who participated in the study who took disaster-related courses, who reported that the course they took were 3 hours or more, and that they had a disaster plan at school, were found to be statistically significantly higher. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the disaster response self-efficacy of nursing students was moderate and there was a relationship between disaster response self-efficacy and some personal characteristics and disaster-related education levels. Considering the geological conditions, it is important that theoretical or practical training on disaster situations is compulsory in nursing education at university level in Turkey, which is a country with a high risk of encountering disasters.
