Özet

The aim of this study is to develop the Problem Solving Scale for Primary Schools to measure the problem solving of primary school students. For this developed scale, problem solving scales suitable for all ages and levels in the domestic and international literature were examined and various classifications were made. After the studies reached in the literature were examined, the scale development processes were started with the expressions created. The study group of the research consisted of 865 students studying in the 3rd and 4th grades in the 2022–2023 academic year. Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor analyzes were performed to examine the construct validity of the scale. Within the scope of exploratory factor analysis, the 16-item scale was grouped under 3 factors. factors; self-evaluation in problem solving, problem solving knowledge and metacognition in problem solving. The 3-factor structure of the scale was also confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. All of the item fit indices of the study were found to be .90 and above. In the light of the findings obtained from this study, it has been determined that the Problem Solving Scale for Primary Schools is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the problem solving of 3rd and 4th grade students.
