Özet

The aim of this study is to examine the 21st century skill levels of Turkish dual career student athletes and to investigate whether these skills differ according to various demographic variables. The research was conducted with 225 student athletes studying at faculties of sport sciences in Istanbul. Quantitative data were collected using a personal information form and the Multidimensional 21st Century Skills Scale. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical package program. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants, while ANOVA and independent samples t tests were conducted to examine differences according to demographic variables. The findings revealed that most demographic variables did not create statistically significant differences in the 21st century skill levels of Turkish student athletes. However, significant differences were identified in the social skills and career awareness dimensions according to gender, with female participants having higher mean scores than male participants. In addition, a significant difference was found in the information literacy dimension according to the duration of licensed sport participation. Overall, the results indicate that demographic variables have a limited effect on 21st century skills, although certain differences emerge depending on factors such as gender and sport experience.
