As it is known, Covid-19 cases experienced all over the world and in our country, It was decided to postpone the Symposiums event planned in November 2020 until November 2021. It was finally realized on the 9th of the International Aggregate Symposium in November 2021.
The aggregate sector produces the basic inputs of all engineering structures necessary for the development of a country. Considering the industrialization, unplanned urbanization, increasing housing requirements, infrastructure works, and seismicity in our country, it becomes clear how important aggregate mining is. In addition, the aggregate sector is indispensable in terms of the country's economy due to the employment it creates and its relations with many other sectors, especially the construction sector.
It is known that the aggregate sector, the importance of which cannot be questioned, already realizes more than half of the count1)1's mining production. However, on the one hand, the importance of aggregate mining is emphasized \Vith population growth, the growth of urbanization, and the increase in the need for raw materials, on the other hand, it is imperative to protect the environment, use the right resource and implement sustainable mining. Despite everything, it is highly possible to produce products following modem, scientific, and engineering principles in these seemingly contradictory subjects.
Within the scope of this symposium, the importance of aggregate mining, the environmental and legislative problems encountered and solution proposals will be examined in a scientific platform with the participation of academics and sector all representatives.
As the Symposium Executive Committee, for their meaningful and beneficial contribution to the realization of the symposium while expressing his sincere thanks to all institutions, organizations, sponsors, delegates as well as to the authors for their contributions to the high efficiency of the symposium. ~·
In addition, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the valuable board members of TMMOB Chamber of Mining Engineers Istanbul Branch and the 9th International Aggregate Symposium who contributed to the organization · and conduct of this symposium, and to our colleagues and students who contributed throughout the organization for their inexhaustible energy and efforts.
