The aim of this study is to present the strengthening
technique for the seismic adequacy of existing RC buildings subject to earthquake
effects. The entire process is illustrated using case study from existing RC
building. In this study conducted in this scope, the building is examined
within field survey and numerical analyses. In the first stage, the damages in
the building were determined observationally, and then the seismic performance
of the RC building was determined using the nonlinear analysis method and the
reinforcement technique was presented comprehensively for the building, which
was determined to be seismically insufficient. By analyzing the structural
model in which the strengthening members proposed in the said technique are
included, it has been determined numerically whether the building has achieved
sufficient strength. The research presented is important in terms of numerically
determining the current seismic condition of the RC building under
investigation and to verify the feasibility of the proposed strengthening
technique.
