Özet
The digital collection and integration of data generated through forestry operations, together with the ability to trace forest products across different stages of production, have become important components of sustainable forest management. This study evaluates the digital workflow developed within the Horizon Europe DigiMedFor Project from the perspective of forest product traceability and discusses its potential adaptation to forestry practices in Türkiye. The DigiMedFor approach is based on the integrated use of a range of digital technologies, including remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles, mobile data collection applications, geographic information systems, and non-destructive testing devices. The workflow is designed to support the digital recording of forest inventory and standing-tree data in the field, the identification of trees and wood products entering the production process, the monitoring of harvesting and transport operations, and the management of the resulting data within a shared system. This creates the basis for stronger data continuity and product traceability from the standing tree to the forest depot or processing facility. The experience gained through DigiMedFor is assessed in relation to current forestry practices and institutional data infrastructures in Türkiye. Its application at the national level would require common data standards, integration with existing information systems, improved mobile data collection infrastructure, and greater technical capacity among field personnel. Overall, the DigiMedFor digital workflow could provide a modular and adaptable framework for supporting the traceability of forest products from their source to the final stage of use, while also contributing to the broader digital transformation of forestry in Türkiye.
