Özet
Patient and family education is a process that involves the purposeful delivery of healthrelated information to promote behavior change that optimizes health practices and helps the patient and family acquire new life skills. Effective education reduces readmission rates and improves the ability of the patient' and family' to care for themselves. Education should be planned according to the patient's specific needs and preferences and should be provided in clear and easy-to-understand language to ensure that the patient and family understand the information. It is an essential component of health care because it empowers patients to take an active role in their own care and can lead to better health outcomes.
