The types of rosin produced in our country, production stages and legal principles of colophony/rosin/resin terms, varieties of production have been examined. The definition and determination of the importance of rosin, especially the properties and utilization areas of various colophony types such as tall oil and its fractions, wood resin, gum rosin have a wide impact from the end-use characteristics to customs tariffs. The aim of this study is to address extractive substances and production methods from planted pine trees, production techniques, and tall oil and sulfate turpentine obtained as by-products during paper production with the kraft method in this context. Within the scope of this study, the production status of rosin and its derivatives worldwide and in Turkey has been analyzed. The status of resin production in Turkey and the legal regulations to be taken into consideration in production processes, determination of terms, production regions, procedures to be applied before and after production processes and rosin sales transactions have been examined in detail. Findings regarding the materials and methods used in the study, production and legal principles have been presented and these findings have been discussed and concluded. Current study aims to be a valuable resource for researchers and industry professionals who want to gain information on the production and use of rosin/colophony and its derivatives.
