Özet

Anaerobic microorganisms play a major role in pleuropulmonary infections. Peptostreptococcus spp., Fusobacterium nucleatum and Bacterioides spp. are the most commonly seen anaerobes in this infections. Gemella morbillorum is a rare cause of pleuropulmonary infections. We report a case of pleuropulmonary infection and septicemia due to anaerobic bacteria in a 38 years old woman with history of epilepsy, who died at home. At the autopsy, her left lung was seen to be collapse severely. 1200 mL of yellow smelly fluid was drained from the left chest cavity. Aerobic and anaerobic cultures were done on postmortem specimens which were sent to the Microbiolgy Laboratory. The anaerobic cultures were performed in anaerobic jar using GENbox (Biomerieux, France). The isolates were identified by API Rapid ID32A (Biomerieux, France). Aerobic cultures were negative. Anerococcus prevotii was isolated from blood and spleen tissue culture, Anerococcus prevotii and Fusobacterium nucleatum was isolated from fluid material culture, Gemella morbillorum was isolated from lung tissue culture. Anaerobic bacteria are an important factor in community-acquired pneumonia, which become serious and life-threatening infections because of delayed culture and isolation. During the postmortem autopsy suitable conditions for sampling will contribute to the identification of anaerobic bacteria.
