Özet

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led to disruptions in every level of education all over the world and school closures have affected teachers, students and other stakeholders severely. English language teachers at the K-12 level are among the groups impacted by the widespread school closures as well The present study was conducted to investigate what English language teachers have experienced and learned during emergency remote teaching. The data was collected from eight L2 English language teachers working at state high schools in Turkey via semi-structured interviews. Each interview lasted approximately 80 minutes. The interview data were transcribed via speech-totext software and the thematic analysis method was utilized to analyze the data. English language teachers’ views revealed how they interpret their online teaching experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of both the shortcomings and the new things they learned.
