Abstract

This paper investigates the leakage-rate perfor¬mance of untrusted passive and absorptive reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), which is controlled by the unauthorized users. In order to minimize the information leakage, the investigation also considers that untrusted passive and absorptive RIS is affected by a limited number of friendly jammers. The outage probability performance metric is considered for the investigation. Analytical derivations are approximated to asymptotic derivations and verified by means of Monte Carlo-based computer simulations. The obtained results indicate that friendly jammer degrades the performance of the passive and absorptive RIS when it has a small number of reflecting elements. However, as the number of reflecting elements increases, the resistance of the untrusted RIS improves, and the friendly jammer's effects become negligible.
