This section of the book provides an introduction for the book titled “Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering”. This section provides information on current applications of artificial intelligence and its areas of use in civil engineering. Afterward, metaheuristic algorithms and their application areas in civil engineering are discussed, information is given on their integration with artificial intelligence methods, and the framework of their application to civil engineering problems is generally explained.
