Özet

This study examines the impact of integrating the Autonomous Learning Process (ALP) on students’ autonomy in an English public speaking lesson for Aviation department students. The research using mixed-method design involved 24 participants. The researcher designed the lesson incorporating ALP elements, emphasizing self-directed learning and collaborative activities. Students completed the Autonomous Learning Scale as a pre- and post-test to measure changes in their autonomy levels. The course culminated in group presentations and self-reflection reports. Quantitative analysis compared pre- and post-test scores to assess the differences in autonomy levels, while qualitative data from self-reflections were analyzed using content analysis. Results indicated a significant improvement in students’ autonomy and a positive shift in attitudes toward public speaking. The findings highlight the potential of ALP integration to enhance autonomy and confidence in language learning contexts, particularly in domain-specific settings like aviation.
