International Congress of the New Approaches and Technologies for Sustainable Development, Isparta, Türkiye, 21 - 24 Eylül 2017, ss.269-280, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
In this study, we assessed how Turkish companies perceived and implemented
sustainability and also in what degree they adopted the triple bottom line approach. Towards
this end, we conducted content analysis on all sustainability related written and visual shared
documents (sustainability reports, environmental policies, quality policies and social
responsibility policies etc.) of Turkey’s leading 100 companies according to the Istanbul
Chamber of Industry's data in 2015 by using the MAXQDA program. Key words to be coded
in the analysis were created separately for the three dimensions of sustainability, depending
on the literature. As a result of the analysis, we identified that 73% of the companies
understood and accepted the three dimensions of sustainability. However, the number of firms
with sustainability reports is 16% and only 7% of the companies understood the triple bottom
line dimensions above 75 % regarding our list of key words for each dimension.
