Özet

The most important obstacle in mining education is the inability to implement theoretical knowledge into professional life after graduation. Advanced technology has offered some solutions to face this obstacle for the last three decades. Virtual Reality can be used as an effective tool to transmit theoretical knowledge into the working experience. Although it has been used in the industry for years, the importance of Virtual Reality has been fully understood by education institutions, particularly after the pandemic. Nowadays, recent advances in information and communication technologies allow users to experience VR technology at a reasonable price. Therefore, Virtual Reality technology is developing rapidly and its applications are increasing day by day including educational institutions. This paper introduces Virtual Reality technology and discusses some of the applications of the mining industry in terms of education and training.
