ENERGY EDUCATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PART B-SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL STUDIES, cilt.4, ss.1094-1099, 2012 (SSCI)
In present study, data has been collected in three stages. In the fist stage, an exercise sheet that contains algorithmic chemistry problems was
prepared and behavior of pre-service teachers in the process of problem solving was analyzed. In the second stage, a questionnaire was applied to pre-service
teachers in order to have on understanding of their opinions about the solution of conceptual and algorithmic chemistry questions. In the final stage, the preservice teachers’ preferences of solving conceptual or algorithmic problems in chemistry and reasons of them were asked. When we investigated the exercise
sheet, approximate half of the sample taking enough points has been successful.
Keywords: pre-service teacher, algorithmic problem solving, chemistry problem, proportionality method, formula method, science education.
