COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF LOW BACK PAIN ON THEIR DAILY LIFE ACTIVITIES IN SEDENTARY WOMEN AND MOTHERS WITH PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN

Özet
Objective The aim of our study was to make a comparison on how much low back pain complaints of mothers with physically handicapped children and sedentary women restrict their daily life activities Material and Method Totally 110 women with low back pain were included in the study 65 of whom are sedentary (Group 1) and 45 of whom have physically handicapped children (Group 2) Revised Oswestry Low Bach Pain Scale was used to analyze how much low back pains of the cases affect their daily life activities Results The aver age age of the cases in Group 1 was 11 77 +/- 11 67 years and of that in Group 2 was 37 49 +/- 9 59 years The difference between ages of the groups was not statistically significant (p>0 05) Oswestry total score was 13 16 +/- 8 1 in the first group and 14 00 +/- 748 in the second group The difference between the groups was not statistically significant (p> 0 05) However the second group had higher seventy of pain and pain values during weight lifting and sleep The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (p<0 05) No significant difference could be found between the two groups in other sub items such as personal car e walking sitting standing social life travel and pain changing level (p>0 05) Conclusion. The result of our study showed that continuous repeating of various physical activities are important factors causing low back pain in both group It was considered that low back pain observed in mothers with physically handicapped children unlike the sedentary group might be associated with physical strain such as lifting carrying their children and also isolation from social life As a result of the study it was concluded that mothers should be trained on how to use proper body mechanics in daily life
