Cell-Wall components and solubility characteristics of the heartwood and sapwood of Taxus baccata L. were determined by methodsof wood analysis and the differences between heart and sapwood were established. When we observe the data obtained, it is seen that the amount of extractive material found in the heartwood is substantially higher than the sapwood. The extractive material in Taxus baccata L. is originated from the hidden epithelial cells surrounded by resin canals.
