Geotourism; It is a type of ecotourism with a Geological Heritage theme, for learning
purposes and based
on knowledge. This type of tourism is about rocks, fossils, minerals, volcanoes, glaciers, glacial lakes, mountains, erosion
and accumulation
patterns, natural
events that can turn into disasters such as earthquakes, floods and landslides, structural elements,
deserts, lakes, caves, rivers,
waterfalls and
mines. It also includes cultural elements
where human-geology relations
are intensely observed. Since the investment costs of geotourism are very low compared to other types of tourism,
its returns are also high. Geotourists, who are at a certain stage economically and culturally, sometimes travel for days to see these formations, called Geological Heritage,
on site. “Geotown” is a settlement that takes its name and existence from the geological entity to which it owes its existence. Hacıllı, named after
a cave and a waterfall, is a geotown
candidate. The purpose
of this study; Based on the Geological Heritage elements of Gürlek cave and its surroundings within the borders of Hacıllı district,
it is to reveal the geotourism potential of this area and to develop a sustainable development model based on Protection-Use. For this purpose, surveys were first administered to neighborhood residents and nature lovers. Later, field studies
were carried out to identify the Geological Heritage elements of the area and to reveal
its Geotourism potential. Survey results and observations and findings made during field studies
have revealed that the Geological Heritage
elements in the target area are important
not only for Geotourism but also for nature education.
At the end of the study, it was revealed that a geotourism arrangement to be made in the area will both ensure the protection of the area and create an important source
of income for the village.
