BACKGROUND/AIMS: Minimizing labor pain perception is crucial to mitigate its adverse effects and enhance women's birth satisfaction. Two-dimensional images (stereograms) can effectively reduce labor pain perception by inducing a three-dimensional mental perception. This study was conducted to determine the effect of focusing on the birth-specific stereogram cards (BSSC) on the perception of labor pain. METHODS: This prospective randomized controlled clinical trial involved 60 eligible pregnant women in an Istanbul state hospital's delivery room. Data collection tools included a pregnancy data form, the State Anxiety Scale, BSSC, visual analog scale (VAS), and a postpartum data form. The researchers developed the BSSC for birth, and SPSS software version 20 was used for data analysis. RESULTS: The study noted reduced VAS scores, lower anxiety scores, decreased postpartum fatigue levels, and a shortened active phase in the BSSC group, along with high satisfaction with the intervention. CONCLUSIONS: The BSSC focus method effectively reduces labor pain perception, anxiety, and postpartum fatigue, making it a promising approach to improving birth experience.
