Özet

This study evaluates the calibration processes of lithium fluoride-based TLD-100 dosimeters (LiF: Mg, Ti) before routine use. TLD-100 dosimeters are preferred in medical and environmental dosimetry due to their wide dose range, tissue equivalence, and energy-independent response. A method based on Element Correction Coefficients (ECC) was developed to minimize individual response variations among TLDs. The research, conducted jointly by Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty and Radkor Dosimetry Laboratory, analyzed 70 TLDs, selecting 20 golden dosimeters for calibration. The TLD-100 dosimeters are composed of LiF:(Mg, Ti) and possess tissue-equivalent density. They are square-shaped with a crystalline structure and dimensions of 3 × 3 × 0.9 mm. The luminescence response of TLD-100 dosimeters was investigated under a fixed Xray beam quality at 120 kV, focusing on response stability at this clinically relevant energy rather than a multi-energy comparison. After irradiating 70 TLDs with a dose of 10.03 mGy for calibration purposes, the measured doses, ECC values, conversion factors (CF), and corrected dose values were found to be 7.07 ± 0.5 mSv, HP(0.07)/Hp(10) 1.38/1.88, CF= 0.7 ± 0.05, and 10.05 ± 0.074 mSv, respectively. The dose values measured behind the water tank of the 50 TLDs reported were found to be 10.04±0.04 mSv after applying conversion factors. These golden dosimeters were identified with a sensitivity deviation of ±1%, and a calibration curve was established (R²=0.9994). Results showed that using golden dosimeters significantly enhanced measurement accuracy. The study examined the energy dependence, signal stability, and calibration methods of TLD-100 dosimeters in detail. Findings highlighted that calibration processes improve the accuracy and reliability of dosimetry measurements.
