Özet
This chapter explores how colleges balance the demands of international rankings with their own data. Research typically focuses on how rankings affect university tactics. The daily grind, how teams actually collect, arrange, and present data, gets less attention. The paper examines how information moves between departments prior to reaching ranking agencies using an example from a Turkish research institution. Not everything is going smoothly. Different teams employ different approaches, which results in a lot of headaches and repetitive effort. Nonetheless, informal cooperation is how people manage to get things done. The research refers to this as a “institutional data supply chain”, a novel perspective that not only clarifies the procedure but also provides some useful suggestions for improving data management.
