Özet

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are compounds that play an important role in innate immunity. These molecules are tiny (< 10 kDa)(Zaslof, 2002) with 40-60 amino acids and several basic residues including arginine, lysine, and histidine. These peptides have a diverse method of action and show broadspectrum antibacterial effectiveness against a variety of pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and even certain parasites. Plants, insects, amphibians, and mammals all manufacture AMPs as a natural defensive mechanism. This defensive mechanism demonstrates their evolutionary significance in battling microbial illnesses (Bahar and Ren, 2013).
