Reinforced concrete (RC) is one of the most widely used and preferred types of construction. Therefore, the optimum design of RC-bearing elements is an important design problem. Metaheuristic algorithms are suitable for the optimum design of the RC beam. In this study, the problem of minimizing the cost of reinforced concrete beams will be solved with the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA). For this purpose, the dimensions of the single-span rectangular RC beam are optimized to give minimum cost. In the analysis, the effects of defining different values of switch probability (sp) and defining the sp value randomly on the change of the optimum result were determined. Results showed that using random sp is have near performance to best sp cases.
