Özet

The design of structural materials is done to increase the strength of materials. Then, the design is done according to this strength by considering cost, serviceability, and environmental factors. Thus, these two processes are consequently done. Both processes have design constraints in optimum design and metaheuristics are an effective tool. In this chapter, a review of existing studies is presented for metaheuristic-based optimization problems about structural materials and structural design. Additionally, innovative systems that are used in structural control against earthquakes and strong winds are also reviewed.
