Özet
Methods: In this study, sialidase activities of the brain, kidney and liver tissues and sera from the STZ-induced diabetic and control rats were investigated. Results: Blood glucose levels were found to be 239.58 ± 94.13 mg/dl and 112.25 ± 10.87 mg/dl in the STZ-induced diabetic and control rats, respectively. Blood glucose levels (p<0.01) and the activity of serum sialidase (p<0.05) in the diabetic group were significantly higher than the control group. Although sialidase activity of the liver tissues from the diabetic rats were found to be significantly higher than the control rats (p<0.05) we could not find any differences in the activity of sialidase of the brain and kidney tissues between the diabetic and control rats.
