Comparison of the Effects of Preloading with HES or 0.9% NaCl on Biochemistry of Blood During TUR. Sixty one patients with ASA clases I-III, who have undergone TURP under spinal anaesthesia were included in the study. Patients in group I (n:20) received 500 mL of HES and Patients in group II (n:21) received 500 mL of 0.9 % NaCl solution for preloading before the application of spinal anaesthesia. Patients in group III (n:20) received 500 mL of 0.9% NaCl solutions for preloading before the application of spinal anaesthesia. Patients in group III (n:20) received no preloading solutions. In all patients, a 22 G spinal needle was inserted into the spinal canal from L3-4 or L4-5 interval and 3 mL of 0.5% bupivacain solution was injected. A solution of 5% of Mannitol (Resectisol 3L bag was used for irrigation of the bladder. Before and after the preloading, at the end of the operation and I hour after the operation, blood gases. Operation time and the amount of irrigation solution used were recorded. Amount of absorbed irrigation solution was calculated using the following formula: (preop Na/ postop Na x ECF)-ECF. The ratio of absorbed irrigation solution was calculated by dividing absorbed irrigation solution. Statistical data were analyzed using the 'Student' test. In all groups, significant decreases (p<0.05) were noticed in Hb, Hct, Na+ and total protein levels. Greatest decrease in Na and total protein levels were noticed in group III. There were no difference regarding the operation duration and the amount of irrigation solution used (p>0.05). The ratios of absorbed irrigation solution were % 2.62, % 2.57 and % 4.5 in group I, II, and III respectively (p<0.05). One patients in group I, I patient in group II and 3 patients in group III showed the early sings of TUR syndrome. We concluded that preloading the patients who will undergo TURP with HES or 0.9 % NaCl solution could decrease the level of hyponatremia and absrobtion of irrigation fluid.
