International Conference of Digital and Green Transition: Technological, Social and Economic Aspects, İstanbul, Turkey, 16 - 17 December 2022, pp.24, (Summary Text)
It is recognized by the executives of companies all over the world that we are responsible for saving the lives of
future generations by taking initiatives to protect the environment. Conventional management as practiced is not
environmentally friendly and in many cases contrary to sustainability principles; For this reason, it should be renewed in line with green management principles. One of the most important actors in economic life in the world is
private companies, and the development of tools, strategies and methods that can contribute to “green management
and entrepreneurship” will guide these businesses for a sustainable environment. In the green management model,
decisions should link “social and environmental dimensions with economic outcomes”. The source of future sustainability will be the synergy effects between these three performance dimensions. For this reason, we can also express green management as “how strategies and decisions should be, in order to increase sustainable results”. Green
management requires the integration of business management and environmental management principles, based on
a continuous process of relationship between environment and business management. Therefore, green management
begins with incorporating green principles into the company’s mission and vision and transforming these principles
into specific organizational and managerial processes. In order for sustainable development and growth to take place
in the long run, management should attach equal importance to environmental goals in daily operations, as well as
to the goals of the enterprise. While trying to respond to changing consumption patterns, companies should study
about how they can contribute to the physical environment, how sustainability and consumption are linked in various industries and supply chains, and what kind of impacts sustainability can have on economic activities. Corporate
responsibility no longer ends at shopping stores; advanced recycling systems help developing sustainable lifecycles
for products, and this helps companies improve their image, brand and market position. For this purpose, businesses
should define their “green” values, transform them into strategies, plans and decisions, and involve their internal and
external stakeholders in these processes as much as possible in order to achieve sustainable results.
