Prof Dr Ahmet Dobrucali was born in 1963 in Trabzon. After graduating from high school (Trabzon Lisesi) in 1979, he began his medical education at Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty of Istanbul University and graduated in 1985. He completed his internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship programs at the same institution. In 1991 he participated in the ERCP training proggram for a period of four months under the supevision of Dr Poul Swain in White Chapel hospital, London. Between 2000-2002, he spent two years with Roy C Orlando as a research associate professor in the Gastroenterology Clinic of Tulane University. After his return to Turkey, in 2004, he acquired the title of Professor of Gastronterology. His special topics in gastroenterology are diagnosis and treatment of esophageal diseases and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Presently Prof Dobrucali continues to work at Cerrrahpaşa Medical Faculty of Istanbul University, spending his time between the clinic and the classroom with students and assistant doctors. He is married and has two children.
