Rumeysa Tutar serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemistry at Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa. Her academic pursuits focus on various areas including the advancement of biomaterials for biomedical purposes and regenerative medicine, tissue engineering with a specific emphasis on tissue adhesives, 3D bioprinting, and the creation of materials tailored for tissue engineering applications through chemistry. In addition, she continues her research on the advanced recycling of biological waste such as human hair. She has a patented method for obtaining keratin biomaterials from human hair waste. With the keratin biomaterials obtained from this method, she is conducting studies on various applications such as the development of bioplastic films, particularly in tissue engineering, and energy storage systems.
