New Publication: Preparation and Characterization of Transparent Advanced Smart Nanocomposites Reinforced by Nanofibrillated Cellulose/Poly(Methyl Methacrylate)/Methyl Methacrylate/Benzoyl Peroxide

Our article titled ''Preparation and characterization of transparent advanced smart nanocomposites reinforced by nanofibrillated cellulose/poly(methyl methacrylate)/methyl methacrylate/benzoyl peroxide'' has been published in BioResources, a journal of North Carolina State University (NCSU) in the United States.

In this article, transparent smart nanocomposites were developed through the synergistic effects of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) as a natural bionanomaterials, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as a microcapsule, methyl methacrylate (MMA) as a monomer, and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as an initiator and catalyst. Overall, it was concluded that the smart nanocomposites showed significant improvements in mechanical properties (yield strength, modulus of elasticity, hardness, and impact energy) and self-healing capabilities. These smart nanocomposites can be used in a variety of applications such as interior and structural components in the aerospace and automotive industries, packaging, and flexible screens.
