Prof. ORHAN KOÇAK

Orhan Koçak received his doctorate from Istanbul University Social Policy program in 2004. After working full-time at Beykent University, Istanbul Aydın University and Yalova University, respectively, he was appointed as an Associate Professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Health Sciences, Social Work Department in 2016 and as a Professor at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Health Sciences, Social Work Department in 2020. While working full-time at these universities, he taught undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses part-time at Okan University, Kadir Has University, Esenyurt University and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Koçak gives lectures on social issues and social policy in general. He conducts his research mostly on aging, migration and technology addiction, which are critical social problems in Turkey. Koçak has books, book chapters, national articles and publications in international journals with high impact factors on social issues. In addition to his editorships in national and international journals, he also reviews articles on Covid-19, immigration and technology addiction. Koçak draws attention to his student-oriented studies due to the joint publications with master and doctoral students. During the Covid-19 period, at the request of his students, he opened a YouTube channel and uploaded important parts of his lessons to the channel, and in this way, he allowed students to watch the lessons again. 

Koçak was included in the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list determined annually by Stanford University in 2024.
