Biography

Dr. Meric Can Ozyurt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. He completed his entire academic education at Istanbul University, earning a B.Sc. in 2011 with a thesis on blast efficiency analysis using digital image processing, an M.Sc. in 2013 focusing on the controlled demolition of structures using explosives, and a Ph.D. in 2018 where he investigated the application of artificial neural networks and game theory to underground mining method selection. Dr. Ozyurt served as a Research Assistant at Istanbul University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa from 2013 to 2024 before assuming his current position. His research expertise includes open pit and underground mining, drilling and blasting, rock mechanics, mine planning, and applications of machine learning in mining engineering.
