Turkish biochemist and biogerontologist. He is a full professor of medical
biochemistry at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa in Istanbul, Turkey. He has a
longstanding interest in redox biology, cellular senescence, and the
identification of senescence biomarkers. His primary research focuses on
developing experimental animal models for age-related diseases, enhancing
various bioanalytical techniques to assess redox status, and analyzing
senescence biomarkers in aging tissues. Professor Çakatay has published over
100 articles in leading journals, including research papers, book chapters,
editorials, and invited reviews on topics such as aging, redox biology,
signaling, cellular senescence, and senotherapeutics. He has served as a guest
editor, reviewer, and editorial board member for numerous journals and has
completed more than 160 verified peer reviews, which are indexed in the Web of
Science Core Collection. In recognition of his scholarly work, he has received
several prestigious awards, including the Top Reviewer Award from Elsevier
