Dr F Busra Aksoy Kumru undertook a BSc (Hons) in Early Childhood Education at the Middle East Technical University (METU) between 2011 and 2016. She further completed her MSc study at the University of Edinburgh School of Social and Political Science in the field of Childhood Studies in 2018. She received a PhD award in 2023 from The University of Edinburgh, Moray House School of Education in Froebelian early childhood pedagogy and children's participation rights.
Her main academic interests are early childhood studies, children's rights, sociology and ethnography of childhood, contemporary and innovative research with children, international perspectives on the theory and practice of early childhood education, and ethics in social research. Her MSc research has examined young children's perceptions and practices of democracy. For her PhD, she has explored children's participation in Froebelian pedagogies and questioned how Froebelian approaches shape children's participation rights in early years settings.
Currently, she is focusing on academic research related to children's rights in early childhood environments, Froebelian identities of early years practitioners, and utilising creative and participatory research methods with children.
