Prof. BÜLENT ÖNAL

Bülent Önal, Professor in Urology Department of Urology at the Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. He received his medical degree from the Istanbul University Istanbul School of Medicine and completed his residency in urology at the Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine. His education included Nephrology rotation in Guy’s & St. Thomas’s Hospital, Renal Transplantation and Nephrology Department, London for 3 months. After completed the urology residency program, he worked as one-year research fellowship in Pediatric Urology within the Division of Urology at Albany Medical College, NY, USA by providing the grant from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He also worked for one year as a research fellowship at the Albany College of Pharmacy between 2005 and 2006. 

He became an Associated Professor in 2010. He gained one more time the grant from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and he worked as a research fellow in Pediatric Urological Robotic Surgery Department of Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School between 2010 and 2011. Dr. Bülent Önal received the second best clinical study award from American Academy of Pediatrics in 2011 and Sedat Simavi Health Sciences Award in 2012 for his studies on vesicoureteral reflux.

He holds the European Urology Board Certificate. Bülent Önal is an active member of the American Urological Association, the European Association of Urology and the European Society of Pediatric Urology.

Bülent Önal is currently working in the fields of Robotic Urological Surgery, Urological Cancers, Endourological Surgery (Robotic / Laparoscopic, URS, Flexible URS, PCNL), Kidney Stone Disease and Pediatric Urology at Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa of Medicine Department of Urology.
