Abstract:Significant improvements have occurred in composite materials and production methods in recent years. They have established a market presence. For example, aerospace industry, automotive, construction, electrical-electronics, watercraft, biomedical, sports equipment and various application areas. This rapid development of composite materials has resulted in effective and reliable advances in the connecting methods of structural elements and thus required the examination of bonding, sewing and mechanical joint methods. Connecting composite materials is not as easy as traditional materials therefore, research has been made on mechanical and chemical connecting techniques to connect composite materials. Bolts and pins in mechanical joints, various bonding techniques in chemical connections, as well as bonding-stitching techniques have been applied. In this thesis, it was produced by pultrusion method; high strength, good molding and low cost properties of 50% fiberglass reinforced composite corner joints used both chemical bonding and chemical and mechanical bonding are used together. Two component epoxy adhesive was preferred for bonding. Together with the adhesive, I-shaped (I), dovetail-shaped (K) and rectangular-shaped (U) metal parts are formed using the L-type corner joint. Tensile and compression loads were applied to these samples and the strength of these connections were examined and compared. As a result, the bonded samples which reference samples and mechanical jointed samples of different geometrical shapes were compared and a significant increase in strength was observed.
